  • The Governor Mifflin School District serves a resident population of over 28,000 people and encompasses 42 square miles.

 

  • The land that is now Nolde Forest was orginally primarily meadow land.  The owner at the time was so inspired by a single white pine tree that grew in the middle of this land that he hired a forester to create the forest that is now Nolde Forest State Park.

 

  • Alvernia University began as a liberal arts school for women in 1960.  The first men did not enroll until 1971.

 

  • The Maple Grove Speedway actually began as the Brecknock Speedway in 1937.  The Brecknock Speedway was a half-mile long, flat and oval dirt track.  The speedway wasn't completely converted to a Drag Strip until 1962.
